Kiddie Party

Celebrate Your Baby's first year with these great party ideas!

Your baby's first birthday marks a milestone in her life- and yours too! So make sure you celebrate it right. Follow these tips for party that will be as memorable as it is fun!

  • Have a theme. Forget the ones that involve mascots and character that's currently popular. Be inventive! For example, you can have a play-school theme- decorate using colorful building blocks or geometric patterns in bright, primary colors. Or have a "zoo" theme where you can make guests wear animal masks or prop up stuffed animals around the house.

  • Keep the party short. Remember, your child is one, not 21 so parties that last late into the night are not for her.Keep the merriment into an hourand a half tops; any longer and your baby is bond to get fussy or cranky.

  • Don't invite too many people. For your child's first birthday party, I suggest that you invite only close friends and family. You will want to keep the number of guest manageable, since aside from entertaining them, you will have to look out for your little one as well. You should also be prepared for the other children invited at the party.Make sure you have a lot of toys and games to keep them occupied. Otherwise, they might get as cranky as your baby.

  • Relax! Don't expect everything to go smoothly, especially where babies are concerned. Crying fits accidents, and tears are expected, so just go with the flow and have fun.

  • Don't forget about the people who matters most. When everyone has gone home and everything has been cleaned up, spend private time with your baby and hubby to celebrate this special milestone in your family's life.
