BARBECUE SAUCE


A delicious sauce good with beef chicken or pork. And none of the preservatives found in most store-brought brands.
1 medium onion, peeled and finely chopped
½ cup vegetable oil
1 cup ketchup
¾ cups water
2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoon sugar
¼ cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper

Combine all ingredients in a medium-size saucepan. Simmer over low heat, uncovered, for 20 minutes; let cool. Will keep several days refrigerated in a clean jar with a tight-fitting lid or 6 months in a freezer container at 0 degreed Fahrenheit. Yield about 2 ½ cups.
