AFRICAN VIOLET POTTING SOIL

Also suitable for gesneriads, fibrous begonias, caladiums, and most ferns.

3 parts peat moss

2 parts vermicullite

1 part perlite

5 tablespoons crushed eggshells (0r 5 teaspoons dolomitic lime) per quart of mixture

Mix all ingredients in a bucket. When repotting African violets, do not give the roots too much space- unless the roots thoroughly penetrate the soil, it will remain wet and the plant will rot. As a rule, the diameter of the pot should be one third that of plant.
